Edith Eleanore Milbrandt married Eric Sykes (1923 - 2012) on February 14th, 1952 in Kensington, London, England. Edith and Eric met when she was working at a talent agency. Eric had struggled with problems with his hearing and his vision throughout his life and Edith was of great support to him.
In his obituary, Eric was described as a "widely-acclaimed British comedy actor and writer." Amongst his accomplishments, he co-wrote the classic radio comedy "The Good Show." He also starred in "Skykes and a . . ." , "The Others" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
Edith and Eric had four children: Kathy Sykes, Susan (Sykes) Stronge, Julie Louise Sykes and David Kurt Sykes. They also had grandchildren Matthew, Eleanore, William, Thomas, and Sophie as well as great-grandchild George. A private person, Edith stayed out of the limelight, focusing on their family life.
When Eric died, he and Edith had been married for sixty years.

Eric Sykes was a well-known British comedian, actor, writer, and director who was born on May 4, 1923, in Oldham, Lancashire, England. He began his career as a radio scriptwriter for the BBC in the 1940s and later became a successful television personality, appearing in numerous shows throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
Sykes was also known for his film work, including appearances in popular movies such as "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines" and "The Others." He wrote and directed several films, including "The Plank" and "It's Your Move."
Throughout his career, Sykes received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the entertainment industry, including a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 1986 and a knighthood in 2005. He passed away on July 4, 2012, at the age of 89.
