Cuthbert High School 1937 9th grade
Colorized on MyHeritage, but spotty. I put the names from the back on it and unsure if they match up. Eloise Cliatt is 3rd row, 3rd from left.

Class of '39. This was taken before the new high school was built. Randolph County Elementary School is that high school building. This building was still on the campus in 2015. Students are listed on the back. See 2nd photo.

This is the front of the hospital with the ambulance drive shown. It burned down in 1946 and is on the Cuthbert Elementary School property. Eloise Cliatt was a nursing student here and is in the picture in her starched white uniform.

This is a pass for Eloise to visit her parents. E. T. Cliatt is her father, Edward Thomas Cliatt, a farmer in Edison, GA. Even the married students had to get a pass to leave the dorms.

Eloise Cliatt Spaeth in Grady Nurses' Uniform
Eloise Cliatt Spaeth was a student in Grady Nurses' School in 1950, until she got pleuresy and had to stop after 9 months. Even though she was married, she had to live in this dormitory on the Grady campus. She had classes in Georgia Hall, which was the old hospital until the current Grady Hospital was built in 1958. The dormitory might have been what is now Florida Hall; there is a museum in the ground floor of the hospital, but I could not find out any information about where the dormitory was. Eloise is sitting on the front steps of the dorms.

Eloise Cliatt Spaeth was an ER nurse at DeKalb General Hospital in 1963. She had to take the Licensed Undergraduate Nurse exam to get the job. It had been 25 years since she had been in nursing school except for 9 months at Grady Hospital Nursing Program. She made a high score and got the license, and her job.

Maggie Eloise (Cliatt)
Maggie Eloise Cliatt, who went by Eloise, became a nursing student at Patterson's Hospital in Cuthbert, GA at 16. She went on to practice in several doctor's offices and joined the WAVES in 1943. In 1944 she was a waitress at Mom's Restaurant in Norman, OK when she married William Olin Spaeth who served at the naval base there. They moved to Jacksonville, FL, then to Edison, GA when Will was discharged. Eloise was an Electronics student at Southern Tech in Chamblee, GA for 9 months, then went back to nursing school in 1950 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. In 1963 she worked as an ER nurse at the new DeKalb Hospital, but hurt her back and became disabled. When Will decided to quit teaching at Southern Tech, now in Marietta in 1965, they moved to Cornelia, GA. Eloise honed her writing skills and in 1974 became a stringer [part-timer] at the Gainesville, GA Daily Times. Through the 70s she had two columns there and when not asking school children questions like 'How old is old?' she covered all of the political races in Habersham County. She did an article for Atlanta Magazine about a primitive artist in White County during this time. She was known for quietly helping people in need. Maggie Eloise Cliatt was born to Edward Thomas Cliatt (1891 - 1967) and Cattie Corene Curry (1891 - 1967). She married William Olin Spaeth on August 26, 1944, in Norman, Okalahoma, and they had children David Baldwin (1945- 1945), Susan Eloise (1945 - 1945), and two other daughters who survived infancy. A veteran of World War II, Eloise was in the WAVES - the United States Navy. She was a PhM, which is a Pharmacists' Mate.

This is a photograph taken of the staff at Mom's Restaurant in Norman, OK, USA in 1944. Mom, the owner, is on the right wearing the gray dress. Eloise Cliatt [white] is also on the right near the back. No names were on this photo. I ran it through MyHeritage to get color.

Tintype Lady circa 1915
I don't know who this lady is or when this tintype was taken. I put my scan through MyHeritage to get this colorized and enhanced version. Hoping someone knows who she is. My cousin guessed she might be a Shellhouse. I guessed 1915 because there were two other tintypes with it and they are Allan Curry as a young man, and his age would suggest about 1915.
