LeMaire entered the army ia September 1940. 6th Army Group, Germany a stubborn cierman resistance was transformed into willing surrender when tankmen of the 753rd Tank Battalion of which Sergent Norace Benoit of Gueydan, Louisiana, is a member, covered U.S Army Doughboys of Gea, Jacob L Devers' 6th Army group in the crossing of a Rhine River tributary. The Yanks crossed the river in boats and took the hill with 60 German prisoners.// POSTED IN

PATTON// DAD SEEN ACTION/WAR/ IN ITALY/ FRANCE/ GERMANY//I RECALL DAD TELLING ME THAT HIM AND HIS MEN HAD TO BUILD A PONTOON BRIDGE ACROSS THE RHINE RIVER TO GET INTO GERMANY. MY FATHER WAS A HERO IN WAR AND IN MY LIFE ! HE NEVER EVER BRAGGED ON ALL THE GOOD HE DID FOR HIS COUNTRY AND MOSTLY THE 'PEOPLE' , AT HIS FUNERAL AND RECENTLY I HAD FOLKS TELL ME THAT MY FATHER HELPED THEM PURCHASE THEIR FIRST HOME, VEHICLE , LAND ETC..
