He preferred to be called by his middle name, Newton. Newton married Sarah Jane Trueblood on 8 AUG 1871 at Salem, Washington County, IN. Newton was a farmer.


Sarah Jane is my great, great grandmother. She married two different men named Thomas Morris...Thomas Aaron Morris was her first husband. He was struck and killed by lightning in 1868. Then, she married Thomas Newton Morris, my great, great grandfather.

Abraham, born 4 May 1786 in Washington Co., VA. s/o Nicholas & Maria Catharina Fleenor (originally Flinner), died 9 April 1874. He and wife Nancy Green(e) Fleenor were married before 1810 and migrated to the wilderness of southern Indiana. Nancy Green, born 20 Jan. 1792 in England and died 30 Nov. 1865) at age 73 y 10 m and 10 d. They were pioneers in the area when it was the Indiana Territory, a part of the original Northwest Territory and were citizens in 1816 when Indiana became a State under the first governor, William Henry Harrison.
