My late , best friend's big sister & only sibling.She was absolutely beautiful with a soul to match.Think ,Natalie Wood and then some. She was of the same temperament ,kind compassionate spirit as her Mom ,Shelley loved her Mom, her Dad and younger brother- her stalwart champions. Though I was ,one more ,of Mark's friends ,who would become speechless when she entered the room,she never pulled rank .To be read as : 'the bossy Big Sister.Shelley was her parent's daughter.Which means,she was always very kind & genuinely gracious to me.And, much later in life respected me enough to seek my perspective & counsel on a matter of great importance to her when Mark was unavailable. They are all gone from me ,now.But each , together, and separately , in their own way, made a lasting, positive imprint upon my life .

He loved the water.And was an avid sailor , loved fishing too.I remember many times going with his son Mark ,my best friend and his late brother Raleigh out into the Gulf , in a 32 ft. Lyman cruiser .And no matter the conditions,how masterfully he navigated those swells.When Mark was instantly accepted to the private academy, I had told him about -ironically enough ,the school rejected me.So, his Dad was now , as I , missing his son.I took it upon myself to go visit,keep him company ,news about how Mark was doing,shoot the breeze just as if Mark was still at home .And,he was always genuinely glad to see me & appreciative of my regular visits .

Stanley D. Tinsley ,was the father of my best friend ,the late Mark S. Tinsley and daughter,the late Shelley Tinsley .He served his Nation,during WWII as his older late brother "Rollo" did,with valor and distinction in combat as a carrier based ,fighter bomber pilot .He was a solid individual ,strong willed and honorable, but strong enough to be a peacemaker when called for.He was a friend of my own Dad ,and was like a second Dad to me at a pivotal time in my own life.He loved ,and was loved by his family, dearly & was their rock of Gibraltar .I will never forget him ,and will go this Memorial Day to honor his Service ,to sit by his grave & thank him for being the father of the best friend I ever had.

He was a fine man who was loved by his family and friends .His nickname was "Rollo".He served his Country with valor & distinction during WWII.A straight shooter, & crusty curmudgeon to the thin skinned ,but honest to his core.He was a combat veteran pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps,the older brother of Stanley Tinsley , a Navy combat veteran pilot in the Pacific theater & uncle to my late best friend Mark S. Tinsley .

Mark was the cool , philosophical ,"can do" surfer.A straight A /masterworks student who despite his status was the most,approachable, balanced individual I ever met.With a superb sense of humor, I might add.Generous with his time , his counsel and understanding.His father was a friend of my own Dad , and like a second Dad to me And likewise his Mom/his big sister was great to him, and could've been Natalie Wood's twin .His parents were unabashedly demonstrative in their love for both children, as well as ,for each other.I miss my best friend ,and his family .I am very grateful that I knew each of them.News of Mark's passing came to me ,on the heels of learning of his sister's death.My only solace is that I ,out of the blue , told him over the last phone call we ever had , that I loved him.He chuckled , and said "love you too".God, but I'm glad I said those words.
