George Peter Leckenby was born on July 21, 1885, and died at age 68 years old in 1953 in Fountain, Colorado United States. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember George Peter Leckenby.

From 1970-1980 Mary Leckenby operated an Emergency Foster Home in Dekalb County GA. She welcomed over a total of 300 children into her home for brief stays till the judges decided where they would be placed. Many children would show up with the clothes on their backs and nothing more. Her home was open to all ages from birth to 18. At the same time she still had two of her own children at home. Her husband George Leckenby was a very quite man and worked hard at Hermes Plastics to keep a roof over however many kids would be in the house on any given day. Most times they would only host 4 children at a time however there were a few time when she would have more because she never wanted to see families split up. At the time she was one of the only Emergency Foster homes that would take teenagers. The family always had a station wagon and loved to go camping. For many of the kids its was their first experience camping . The whole family faithfully attended church every week no matter what. Mary would start her day out with reading the Bible and having devotions while drinking a cup of coffee.
