Thomas Payne Wilson, Civil War Veteran
Thomas Payne Wilson, Civil War Veteran
Thomas Payne Wilson, my 3rd great grandfather, settled on the Rolling Fork River, Marion County, Arkansas. When he and his four brothers joined the Union army, Confederate bushwackers lynched their father, Samuel. Nancy, Thomas’ wife, identified them and after the war, the boys avenged their father. The southern laws wanted them badly enough that one changed his name and one had to be smuggled to Indian Territory in the false bottom of a corn wagon.
Wilson General Store
Wilson General Store
This store was built by Thomas Payne Wilson who sold it to his brother, James Wilson just after the Civil War. It was located near Wewoka at the time and has been in our family until July, 2021. The last Wilson to own it is still living.
Nora Franks Wilson and son, Myloe
Nora Franks Wilson and son, Myloe
Nora, my grandmother, died when Myloe, my dad, was a baby. Her husband abandoned him after her death and he was reared and supported by the Franks grandparents. He is almost 99, a WW2 pilot, and someone the Franks can be proud of.
A DNA Surprise
A DNA Surprise
This is the seal of the Lenape or Delaware Indians, located first around the Great Lakes. We have as many DNA markers for Lenape as we do Scots. My family settled in the Tennessee area.

The connection is very strong and shows up first in about 1850. The Lenape and the Wilsons ended up in Indian Territory, but it appears the connection was earlier.

Am trying to learn about my new cousins. Tis a mystery.

This tintype I suspect is from around 1870-1885. My grandmother’s family came from the Tennessee area so I think this man could be from that area, otherwise I have no idea. He could be a great great grandfather, so please help me identify this photo.
