If any others have looked, did you notice that she lived to be 99? Wow! My father's father lived to 98 as did his sister.
She's a beautiful lady. I'm glad this was posted.
This is my grandmother, Annie Jacobs Doss. I found the photo on ans.com. It's never been seen by our family until now.
Annie was born in Jan.1889 in France. She came with her family in 1895, to California when she was six. She would be about eighteen in this photo. Her mother was a dressmaker and probably made the dress. We have many photos of Annie in beautifully handmade dresses. She was frequently used as a the local photographer's model! Her father co-owned the mercantile store in Cedarville, (which is still there) and I always thought of her as kind if a "Nellie Olsen" from Little House on the Prairie! She was a tiny, feisty little lady who never reached five feet in height. Always said exactly what was on her mind with humor and kindness. I have wonderful childhood memories of Grandma Annie, who lived to be just three months shy of her 100th birthday!
