John W Doudell, husband to Rose McKeon Doudell and father to upwards of 13 children, started one of the first trucking and transportation companies in San Jose, California. His first truck was used for his own business, and he utilized the truck off hours helping all of the canneries and farmers in San Jose transport their products. Eventually, transportation services became his primary business as he gradually added more and more trucks.

This photo has gone missing. If I find it, I will edit this post. A photograph of mostly female workers at Triangle Film Corporation's film laboratory. The photo looks as though it may have been cut down from a larger picture, possibly showing more of the building. Triangle only produced films between 1915 and 1919. The last movie released under the Triangle name came out in 1922 or 1923.
Taken about 19 years after Al Scoffone started his business with one truck, this photo shows Al and his crew removing an old locomotive steam engine from the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is believed the locomotive was headed to the home of famed Southern Pacific railroad engineer Billy Jones, who used to work the rail line in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

This photo of Al Scoffone was taken in 1945 with his first truck, which he would use to create his trucking transportation company "Scoffone Trucking Service" aka "STS" which would eventually grow into a fleet of over 100 vehicles. The company later became Athens Transportation Systems (ATS) and ran by his son David Scoffone. Four years after this photo he married his life long partner Beverly Scoffone.

This is the sign on the side of the historical building that currently houses the French restaurant La Foret. It reads “Built after the tragic 1875 fire destroyed the original 1848 Adobe hotel. First two-story hotel in California. Used by the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Co for unmarried employees & to house visitors to mining settlement. Remodeled into the Cafe Del Rio Restaurant in the 1930s now home to La Foret, a fine French dining establishment.” I’ll add that this restaurant is currently a favorite of mine and my wife.
This is the back of the menu of the New Almaden Food & Beverage Company located in New Almaden, San Jose California. Yes, I will take a good Zinfandel for $3.00. The original can be found at La Foret in New Almaden. I believe this was the menu for the restaurant in the hotel which housed the unmarried minors of the QuickSilver mines. The New Almaden quicksilver mine in the Capitancillas range in Santa Clara County, California is the oldest and most productive quicksilver mine in the U.S.

A photo of Luke Perry, born Coy Luther Perry III in Mansfield, OH on October 11, 1966. His father was a steelworker and his mother was a homemaker. He said that he auditioned for 256 jobs before getting his first acting job on soaps - one episode on "Loving" and 10 episodes on "Another World". He also appeared in a music video for Twisted Sister. From 1990 - 1994, he starred as Dylan McKay on "Beverley Hills, 90210" - his breakout and perhaps best known role - and became a teen heartthrob. At one autograph session, 10,000 girls created a riot and he was forced to leave after 90 seconds! Leaving "90210" in 1995 because he wanted "more mature roles,” Luke worked in a number of films before returning to the series in 1998 - 2000. For the remainder of his career he worked in films, tv, and stage. In 2017, he took the role of Fred Andrews on the tv series "Riverdale." Personal life: Luke was married to Rachel Sharp from 1993 - 2003. They had two children. (Their son Jack is a professional wrestler.) On February 27, 2019 Luke had a massive stroke and died days later, at age 52, from complications due to the stroke.
