Since my last post, I've found out the name of Champion Mitchell...it was Charles Mitchell. He is the man with the dog.

Champ and Champ
My grand uncle (the tall one), William Champion Dyer was the s/o William Lewis and Clarissa Evelyn Mitchell Dyer, my great grandparents. The other one is Clarissa's brother, Champion Mitchell. All of Haywood County, NC.
Champion Mitchell got his name as being the champion of wrestling matches. I don't have his real name. (Family legend)
