Wow! So they fell in love via correspondence? What a romantic story, and just before Valentine's Day!
They did, and she still has every one of his letters, war-censored and all. The neatest ones are the V-mails, a sort of mini-fax--pre-email type of message.
FYI - I shared this on StumbleUpon because I thought it was an amazing photo/story, and hundreds of people have already visited it since then!
Cool! My mom lives with me now. She misses my Dad everyday. She's 88 and is as lively as a bedbug. She'll be thrilled to know that others are sharing the joy and love that she and my Dad had. In case you're wondering, yes those dimples of his went straight through, side to side. LOL An interesting note, I think is, of course this was before he got sick, he could still fit into his Marine Corps uniform well into his 60s. He was diagnosed with cancer in July 1985 and left us 16 months later. He was 65. I guess you know I miss him every day, too, even 26 years later. Thanks, Filipe, for caring enough to share the very best.
