Emily Jane Cooke Tomes and family
Emily Jane (Cook) Tomes in coffin surrounded by her children. Please help identify all the people in the picture. Emily Jane was supposedly full blood American Indian. Does anyone have proof of that, or other information about her family. I've heard her father's name was Levi Cook. Please help!

Emily Jane Cook Tomes died in 1906. I would imagine that the younger of her two daughters is on the top left. That would be Mary Susanna Tomes and the other daughter beside her would be Julia Ann Tomes. They were eight years apart in age. It’s a bit more difficult with the men in the photos without another photo reference. It could be figured out though. One son is not in the photo.

Emily Jane (Cooke) Tomes was born in April 1837 in Nelson, Virginia. She died 30 August 1906 at the age of 69. She was the oldest of eight children born to Levi Cook 1811-1853 and Susanna D (Wallace) Cook 1817-1866.
