English Gentleman in Vested Suit
Photo of English gentleman approximately late 1800's or early 1900's. Photo taken at Battersea Rise, New Wandsworth- H. Morris Photographer.

A mystery relative...he belongs to us, but we need to connect names & faces! Have you seen this gentleman in your family photo album? Can you help narrow the date of the photo? This photo was a treasured keepsake of my great-grandmother Louisa Ann PALMER VALLIS. Louisa, born 1849 in Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire, married John VALLIS, born 1849 in Middlesex/Poplar-Millwall. Louisa and John met & married in Lincoln, Nebraska USA in 1887. Both had family who remained in England. John's siblings (who remained in England) include: Abraham, George, Ellen, Clara and Mary Jane. Mary Jane married Alfred SCRIVEN. George & wife Eliza continued to live in Poplar. Other English ancestral surnames include: PICKERING, HEDGES, CUTTER and TAYLOR.
Date & Place: Not specified or unknown.

Surnames include, VALLIS, TAYLOR, PALMER, CUTLER, PICKERING, HEDGES and SCRIVEN. Known 1800's Middlesex roots are specific to Poplar/Millwall. Buckinghamshire connections include the areas of Winslow, Swanbourne, Stewkley, Wing and Leighton Buzzard. *** U.S. family roots include ROSS and ROMAINE families from New York who went westward to settle in Kansas and Missouri. ***German Russian family roots include BOHL, KAHLER, HUCK, SPREIER, SCHULDEIS, SCHULTHEIS, FEUERSTEIN,GAS, JAEGER, EIKMEIER surnames. Our family immigrated from Russia; some family members came to the U.S., settling in the midwest. Other family members immigrated to Argentina.
