English Gentleman
Photo of English gentleman "George" taken in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Photo taken at JH Curtis & in England.

'George' is a family mystery! Have you seen George in your family album? Can you help narrow the date of this photo? This photo was a treasured keepsake of Louisa Ann PALMER VALLIS, born 1858 in Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire England. Louisa, my great-grandmother married John VALLIS, born 1849,from Poplar/Millwall England. Louisa and John met and married in 1887 in Lincoln, Nebraska USA. Both had family who remained in England.
We believe 'George' is Vallis kin, perhaps a son of John's brother, George (who continued to live in Poplar with his wife Eliza & family). Or maybe this is George, brother to John? Or some other kin? Other English ancestral surnames include: PICKERING, HEDGES, CUTLER and TAYLOR.
John Vallis' siblings (who remained in England) include: Abraham, George, Ellen, Clara and Mary Jane. Mary Jane married Alfred SCRIVEN.
Date & Place: Not specified or unknown.

Surnames include, VALLIS, TAYLOR, PALMER, CUTLER, PICKERING, HEDGES and SCRIVEN. Known 1800's Middlesex roots are specific to Poplar/Millwall. Buckinghamshire connections include the areas of Winslow, Swanbourne, Stewkley, Wing and Leighton Buzzard. *** U.S. family roots include ROSS and ROMAINE families from New York who went westward to settle in Kansas and Missouri. ***German Russian family roots include BOHL, KAHLER, HUCK, SPREIER, SCHULDEIS, SCHULTHEIS, FEUERSTEIN,GAS, JAEGER, EIKMEIER surnames. Our family immigrated from Russia; some family members came to the U.S., settling in the midwest. Other family members immigrated to Argentina.
