Harold Frank Douglas Lay, my first cousin twice removed, killed piloting a Bristol Fighter from St Omer to the western front in 1918. He was just nineteen years old. His pal George William Annakin Watson was in the gunner's seat and also killed. Aged just twenty, he'd turned out No.1 from his intake of three hundred recruits and was a brilliant student. They are both buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery near Boulogne. Gone but NOT FORGOTTEN...
