Jeffie Johnson was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Quanah to Julius and Mary Mollie Seitz. She married Arvil Johnson on Aug. 15, 1937, in Wheeler, and he preceded her in death in 1983. Arvil "Fat Boy" and Jeffie moved to Dumas from Canadian in 1961 and opened Johnson Western Wear and Boot Shop. After school was out each summer, the older grandchildren would come to Dumas and work at the shop and helped with 4-H. They loved having the family with them. Jeffie continued operating the shop until 1997. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had been a member of Bible Baptist Church since 1982, and loved working in her yard.

She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Bobby Johnson, in 1974 and Gary Kent in 1984; two sons-in-law, Lee Roy Kent and Bobby Miller, both in 1995; and ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Ferriel Miller of Pampa and Melba Kent and Sharon Truitt and husband Carroll, all of Dumas, Lewis Johnson and wife Nancy of Amarillo and Johnny Johnson of Cummings, GA; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Bible Baptist Church building fund, 222 W. First St., Dumas, TX 79029.
