John Edwin Eversole At Age 24

Photo Details

On the back of this picture are the words "John Edwin Eversole - 24 years old" in handwriting I recognize as that of Priscilla (Sheeks) Carr, who raised his son John Edwin Carr, as her own. The latter did not know for several years that Rose (Carr) Neal was his mother, rather than his sister.
John Edwin Eversole was the 3rd child of the 12 children of James Henry Eversole and Hannah Wood. He eventually married his first cousin Gertrude May Dodson 5 Dec 1903 in Gilmore City, Iowa, and then in 1904 they moved to Alberta, Canada, and settled near Red Deer, where he was successful at managing the George F. Root farm, then the Berkhamsted Farm. When John & his wife retired they moved to Red Deer. John and Gertrude had two sons: Frank Daniel (6 Dec 1905-7 Oct 1916) and Charles Henry (6 Nov 1917-26 May, 1992). They are all buried at the Red Deer Cemetery, Section G, Lot 110 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. John, his parents, and his siblings can be found on pp. 142-143 of THE EBERSOLE FAMILY IN AMERICA, 1727-1937, written by the Rev. Charles Ebersole.
