Mack Sennett Bathing Beauties

Mack Sennett, born January 17th 1880 and died November 5th, 1960 was a director and actor who is largely created with being the founder of slapstick comedy. The "King of Comedy", Mack Sennett won numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film (1932) and an Academy Honorary Award (1937).

In 1915, Mack created the "Sennett Bathing Beauties" who he had act in comedy shorts and promotional events wearing provocative bathing costumes. This photo, taken sometime between 1920 and 1932, shows the Sennett Bathing Beauties sitting in over sized tires.
