Leonard Michael Pinna
Leonard 'Leo' Michael Pinna was born to Frank Michael Pinna and Nancy June (Finazzo) Pinna and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Leonard and Kathleen Rae (Kroetch) Pinna (first marriage for both) were married at Church of the Valley, Stevens Creek Blvd. in Santa Clara in 1972 To show how we choose familiar patterns: Kathy attended Church of the Valley with her family when she was a child, and her mother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch lived in a retirement community across from the church before she died. During their marriage they had one child Daniel J Pinna, and then divorced in July 1981. Kathy never re-married, and Leonard went on to marry twice more.

Leonard Michael Pinna
In the 1930 census, Leonard stated that he was a laborer in plumbing and that he was born in Louisiana (this is an error - he was born in Sicily.) The family was living in a rented home in North East, PA and in the household were Mary, wife, and son, Frankie age 2. He stated that he was 29 when he married and was unable to read or write. The family did not have a radio. In the 1940 census, Leonard, 49, was living with wife Mary, 36, and son Frank, 19, in North East PA. Leonard was born in Italy, Mary in Lousiana, and Frank in PA. No one in the household was working but Leonard stated that he had income from other sources. On his WW2 draft card, filled out in 1942, he said that he was 5 ft 5in tall, weighed 195 lobs, had hazel eyes, black hair, and light brown complexion. He named Frank Conti as the person who would always know where he was.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. For information on the folks who build and support the community see Daniel - Founder & Creator.
My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
