tintype of Elizabeth Smith Lovell
I have determined that this is Elizabeth Smith, the second wife of John Lovell. She was born 10 Apr. 1808 in Barkingside, Essex, England, married John 10 Mar. 1852 in Iowa and died 27 Feb. 1889. Though she did not have any children, she cared for John's children from his previous marriage.

I was told that this picture is a tin type. It is on metal. All the families settled in Utah, though this may have been taken before coming to Utah.
