2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Dick Tjepkema of Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan was born on November 29, 1883 at Home in Vriesland, Spijkenisse County, ZH The Netherlands, and died at age 89 years old in March 1973 at Holland Home in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan United States. Dick Tjepkema was buried in March 1973 in Grand Rapids.
My mother was one of the most effective prayer warriors of our community and church family. She prayed for her husband, 7 children and their spouses, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her church family members on a daily basis. She was kind, wise, laid back, funny, and a very good listener. Most of all she was an excellent Christian mother, of which she was very proud of and all her loved ones. They were her greatest accomplishment in life. She loved music and played the piano and sang. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. She crocheted blankets for each of her children and grandchildren on the day of their baptism. Thank you Mum!
My grandmother, Anna Tjepkema, was a fine Dutch wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her husband's name was Dick Tjepkema and she had 6 children (2 were born in the Netherlands) and 4 in the USA. Their names were Hilda, Richard, Tina, Ray, Agnus & Sam. She loved to keep things orderly and clean around their farmhouse. She was a good cook & baker and enjoyed the country life in Dorr, MI. She was very healthy until her death at 96 years old, but lost her short-term memory in the last few years of her long life. She was feisty, beautiful and very sharp! Love you Grandma!
