Edwin was born 10 May 1893, his parents were John Jeffries and Mary Ann Jeffries nee Griffiths. He was one of 8 children so far traced. He was born in School Street, Tirphil, Glamorgan, Wales.
Edwin George Jeffries was my uncle, my father's eldest brother. Edwin's civilian occupation was a collier timberman.
Edwin died in No. 19 Casualty Clearing Station from wounds received. Gun shot wound to the back (sniper?) - as per Army Records and telegram to parents.

This cemetary was next to the casualty clearing station and that is where all dead soldiers were buried.
His army description was - Height - 5' 2-1/4 ins, weight 119 pounds, hair - dark brown, complextion - dark, eyes -- brown, chest measurement - 33 ins, expanded 35 ins.
The family had a photograph of him but this has since been lost during various house moves.

June was the daughter of Clyde and Hannah Jeffries of Rices Landing PA. She was one of eight children , brothers Christopher (John) and Clyde (Sonny), sisters Mary, Minnie, Shirley, Betty and Beatrice.
June had three children, William, Clyde and Sandra along with three grandchildren , Alyssa Ann, Clyde Charles and Anna, in addition to two great grandchildren Dalton and Bentley.
June was a gentle soul who would help anyone in need even though she had little , if anything to spare. June gave everything she had to her children and often went without anything for herself. Life was not kind to June, but she didn’t share her life details with many if anyone. She was a strong, proud person and refused medical intervention when she became Ill with cancer.
She was one of the strongest women I will ever know and I am proud to be her daughter. She was there to meet her granddaughter Alyssa, my daughter and her grandson , Clyde Charles, Clyde’s son in heaven when they left , but One day we will all be together.

I have in the past contacted the Western Front group at a Who Do You Think You Are exhibition and they gave me copies of an officer's diary giving details of the battles etc that the Royal Welsh Fusiliers were involved in, although it does not give exact details of my uncle Edwin, just casualty details.
Edwin was the eldest brother of my father Ivor Jeffries 1906-1983. Edwin was the eldest of 8 children. I have pictures of his grave at Caudry Military Cemetery in France, plus other photographs. I don't have a photograph of Edwin either civilian or military, if someone could help with that I would be grateful.
I hope that any of the details I have given here will maybe help others in their research.

My dad was Michael Christopher Jeffries and sadly passed away in 1997, leaving my brother and I to carry on the Jeffries tree.
Which i feel he will do successfully and continue to keep the Jeffries line that i know and have been in throughout my life alive.
