CarmonConder McManigell My Christmas Story by Carmon Conder McManigell In 1941 I was seven years old and living with my grandparents on their farm in Leesburg,Texas. My how I enjoyed being the only child there and being pampered by my loving grandparents. It was the holiday season and being a curious child I was beginning to really wonder if there was truly a Santa Claus.I asked my grandparents and they reassured me that Santa truly did exist.I still wondered if it was true. My grandfather and I always went down in the woods on the farm and chopped down a beautiful tree for my grandmother's parlor. It was trimmed with colored popcorn and home made ornaments. The kitchen was full of cookies, fruitcake, fruit and all kinds of home goodies, made by my grandmother. My stocking was one of my grandmother's old hose.It was filled with nuts ,candy, and fruit. As Christmas time neared I still had my doubts about Santa. My grandmother and I went into town one day, upon return my grandfather said Santa had come while we were gone.To prove it he took me out to the sandy road and low and behold thiere was some rain deer hoof prints in the sand. Well to this day I still do not know if it was Santa and his reindeer's or it was granddaddy who led a baby calf up and down the sandy road.I choose to believe it was Santa. Lets all remember the true meaning of Christmas, remembering Jesus this holiday season.
