This is a photo of my Grandmother Nellie Marie Stout Martin and her family visiting West Virginia about 1923. I believe it is Montgomery in Kanawha County because part of Montgomery is on the sign behind the people. My grandmother's home was in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana and her father's name was John A. Stout. I am trying to figure out who these Stouts in West Virginia were and how they were related to my grandmother and great grandfather. Does anyone have Stouts from this area of West Virginia who would have had relatives there about 1923? I did find a family of Stouts close by in Charleston, WV. There was a Mary R. Stout living with daughter Mrs. W.J?. Mandt, and daughter Catherine B. Stout in the 1920 US Census. Do any of these names sound familiar?

Back says "Gene Allen Peyton, age 9, 4th grade, 1970-1971 Jewell Johnson's." Do not know who he is other than his name, or if Jewell Johnson was his mother or someone else.

Unfortunately, I do not know the Ferrell's very well and am unable to identify a bunch of these people. They most likely are from Logan or Lincoln County, West Virginia and are probably descendants of Smith and Nettie McCleary Ferrell or Wilbert and Martha Adkins, or one of their family members. This photo was found in my grandmother's things after she died and has been identified by Sharon Mullins Baldwin as our great grandfather, Smith Ferrell. He was the son of Patterson & Arisba Dingess Ferrell and died when he was only 40 years old.

Thanks to Nancy Peyton, I now know that this is Gladys Shuff, wife of Robert Wetzel Shuff. According to their marriage license, Gladys' maiden name was Meade.

Nothing written on back of photo - "1975" is stamped on front edge, but I wonder if this isn't a reprint date, because photo looks to me like it was taken before that.

The name C. S. Simmons, and Osceola, W. Va. is written on the back in my grandfather's (John W. Shanholtz) handwriting, but I have no idea who this man is or how he ties in to my family.

She was the mother of my great grandfather, Smith Ferrell, and the grandmother of my grandmother, Delphia Ferrell Adkins.

The name "Adkins" is all that is written on the back of this photo.

This photo was found in some photos that belonged to my grandmother originally. Could be a Ferrell or an Adkins. Does anyone know who he is?
