Samples Kids at the Garage
This photo is of Glenna Samples, Pat Wheeler and Jack Samples. Glenna and Jack's parents are Ira and Irene Meehan Samples; Pat's parents are Clyde and Eva Samples Wheeler. My guess is that this photo was taken in the early 1940's however the plate has 1930 "something".

Jack Samples (son of Ira and Irene Meehan Samples) is standing in front of his childhood home at 507 West Ave. D, in Elk City Oklahoma. I do not know the year of this photo but I am guessing late 1960's.

Unknown Jessie in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma
Unknown Jessie in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma
This photo came out of an album my great Aunt Nora Nichols sent to my mother from Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The album once belonged to my maternal grandmother, Mary Wadsworth when she was growing up in Oklahoma. The original album was a black page scrap book with captions done in white ink. At some point, my now deceased mother, removed all the photos from the album and most of the pictures have no information on the backs of them. All that idendifies this picture is the name Jessie written across the bottom. It's possible he comes from the family of Samuel William Brown, Sr. or Samuel William Brown, Jr., both elected and Hereditery Chiefs of the Yuchi/Creek Native Americans from Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma. After a little research on more old photos, I think this boy is Jessie Tiger, brother-in-law to Juanita Brown-Tiger of Sapulpa, Creek, Oklahoma. Juanita was the daughter of Samuel W. Brown, Jr. and Mattie May Payne-Brown. Juanita's husband also had a sister named Louise and have a few photos of her with Juanita and my grandmother, Mary Wadsworth in front of their home in Sapulpa. Does anyone know of this Tiger family? Contact me at [contact link].

I am hoping someone will recognize this "Jessie" from other family photos they might have and tell me who he is. He is either a friend or relative of my maternal grandmother, Mary Wadsworth who was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and had friends in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

My Mother-In-Law found this (one of many) photos in the Stilwell, Adair Co., OK. City Dump.

Unfortunate for some family members, I am hoping someone will be able to identify this photo & not be lost to the relatives forever!

I have no clue as to who they are or to whom they belong!

Samples and Wheeler
This is a photo of some Samples and Wheelers; the only one I am sure of is Eva Samples Wheeler on the far left. I am sure the other ladies are the wifes of Charles Samples and Clarence Samples but I do not know who is who or the names of all the kids. I am not sure of the date of the photo, but it is most likely the late 1940's or early 1950's. If you know who the others in the photo are, please contact me.

Walter "Sonny" Hedlund
Walter "Sonny" Hedlund
This is a newspaper clipping that was found in my grandmother's (Irene Meehan Samples) photo box. We have no idea who the kid was or what relationship she had with him. We also do not know what year, so the 1946 year is a guess, but I am thinking it was after WWII. I have tried to google his name to see what I can come up with and find nothing; hopefully someone will know who this young man was. Here is the newspaper article:

Boy Paper Carrier Dead Lonely Dog Trails Route - Elk City, april 5 - Twelve year old Walter Hedlund - everybody called him "Sonny" didn't make his paper route here Thursday, but his dog made the rounds for him. "Sonny" is dead, killed in an auto accident near El Reno. Riding with his Father, W.B. Hedlund, the boy's coat sleeve caught in the car door, the door flew open, the boy fell out of the moving car, and died ten minutes after reaching the El Reno hospital. But the German police pup, always with "Sonny", on the delivery of his papers, went from house to house Thursday seeking his young master. Not once, but twice did the dog make the rounds of the business house doors and many residences. Funeral services are being delayed pending arrival of relatives from a distance.

If you know who this young man was, contact me and I will send a copy of the newspaper article to you.

William E. Samples and family
This is a family portait of William E. Samples and his family taken in about 1908. William was born in 1886 in Kansas and the 3rd son of William Henry and Sarah Ann Fanning Samples. William died in 1919 on a farm 7 miles southwest of Elk City and his obit list "a wife" and "13 year old daughter" but did not give their names.

This photo does not have clear identification on the back. In fact at first glance, there is no writing until held up to the light at an angle and indention on the paper shows William Samples' name, but not the name of his wife and child. Does anyone know his wife and child's name. It is unknown what happened to them after he died.

This a wedding photo of Thomas Nelson Smith and Josie Lee Murphy Smith (her nickname was Mollie) on 12-10-1903. They had two sons, Calvin Henry Smith born in 1909 and Ora B. Smith, born about 1905. I think Calvin and Ora both had sons and I would love to make contact with them or their children, as I have many Smith family photos.
