Amy Holman was born to Kathy Riddley and Jessie Lance in Georgia. She lived with her grandmother in the Baker and Glover Mobile Home Park near Gainesville, Georgia. Amy's grandmother Ruth Holman, Kathy's mother, adopted Amy when she was around 2 years old and her parents had separated.
A 9 yr old playmate of 11 yr old Amy Holman, who was apparently one of the last people to see Amy alive, testified in the trial of Rudi Lee Bromley who was accused of Amy's murder. The playmate said that she saw Amy talking with Bromley. She and Amy had finished playing and she said that Amy was walking down the road to the mobile home park where Amy and Bromley lived.
The friend said that Amy told her that she was "going somewhere" for the accused. Amy's body was found 3 days later, several miles away.
Amy's grandmother, Ruth Holman, also testified at the trial. She said that she searched the mobile home park the night Amy disappeared: "I was calling her and didn't see nobody out and no cars in the driveways or nothing. We went over to the other side of the park and nobody had saw her. They said she had never been over there. I said 'Something's bad happened to her.' If she was in some of these trailers she would have come out.' " Amy's grandmother also said that Rudi Lee Bromley's trailer was among the places she searched for Amy. Other residents of the mobile home park testified that they had seen Bromley and Amy together on other occasions.
Bromley, at the time of the trial, was a 38 year old former police officer. He was found guilty of murder, kidnapping with bodily harm, aggravated assault, child molestation, and cruelty to children. He was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences and three concurrent sentences of twenty years each.
