Charles Coode 1822 - Oct 9, 1867 Beechworth, Victoria, Australia

The Gippsland Guardian. Victoria. 17th October 1867. An awfully sudden death occurred at Beechworth, on the 9th inst. Mr. Coode, who has been for many years a resident of Newtown, carrying on business as carpenter and wheelwright, and occasionally in the employ of Straughthair and Duncan, ironfounders, dropped dead. He was in good health on the previous morning, although for some time complaining of a headache and palpitations of the heart. He was about forty years of age, and has left a wife and family. The Ovens and Murray Advertiser. Beechworth. 12th October 1867. INQUEST AT NEWTOWN, BEECHWORTH. An inquest was held by Dr. Dempster, coroner, and a jury of twelve, at the Oriental Hotel, Newtown, Beechworth, on Thursday last, to enquire into the cause of death of Mr. Charles Coode, who expired suddenly on the previous day. Grace Coode, sworn, said : The deceased, Charles Coode, was my father. He was digging in the garden yesterday, and appeared quite well....... The jury found "that deceased, Charles Coode, died at Newtown, Beechworth, on October 9th, from the rupture of an aneurysm of the sorts."
