2 Edward Wencek Biographies

Edward John Wencek was born on August 15, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Mat Wencek and Kazmiera Przyborowska. He had a younger sister, Diana Wencek. They grew up in Kings County New York He was a high school graduate of Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ and after high school, Edward registered for the military on August 14, 1943, and enlisted on October 21, 1943, in the Army. During World War II, Wencek served in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, a prestigious military honor awarded to those wounded or killed in action. He served in the military for more than two years before he was discharged on April 7, 1946. After his time in the Army, he returned to complete his education at St. John's University and St. Peter's College in NY. In his early career, he was a radio announcer and founded and managed a talent agency before beginning employment with American Electric Power. He later worked for and retired from the American Standard Corporation, where he was employed in Stock Services, and was the Corporate Historian. Edward was active in the Newtown Republican Party, had been an officer of the American Records Management Association and for many years was active as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.
