Helen Louise Laessle, 91, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Traditions of Chillicothe following a short illness. She was born June 20, 1921 in Madison, West Virginia, the daughter of Dennie and Ada Cooksey Wright. The family moved to Ross County when she was six when her father was offered the opportunity to join a farming operation. She was a graduate of Centralia High School. She worked for many years in the maternity ward of the old Chillicothe Hospital where she met the love of her life, Ralph Laessle. She attended Brookside Church. They were married in 1965 and they found a happiness that most people never know. They were inseparable - you never saw one without the other. Winter trips to Florida and weekend outings strengthened their bond. Sitting at home together and watching television in their restored railroad depot home at the corner of Buckeye Street and Piatt Avenue was just as enjoyable to them since they were together. Ralph was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and Helen cared for him at home for many years. He lived many more years at a local nursing home and Helen visited nearly everyday. Her devotion was deep and strong. Ralph died in 2002. Also preceding Helen in death were her parents and her first husband, Warren H. Streitenberger. She is survived by a daughter, Vicky A. Rauch and her husband, David, Wichita, Kansas; also by her son, Keith Streitenberger and his wife, Linda, Englewood, Florida; other survivors include grandchildren Jeremy Rauch (Larissa), Heather Rauch Wiens (Mark) and Michael, all of Wichita, Brandon Streitenberger (Robin), Greenfield, Ohio, Shelley L. Brown (Brian), Chicago, Illinois, and Sarah Streitenberger and friend Shaun Burchett, Columbus, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren also survive. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family and friends may call there on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 10 am to 11 am. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale with Pastor Jack Norman officiating.
