Isidore Wartzki was born in Poland in 1866 to Louis and Sarah (maiden name Wittkowski) Wartzki. He came to Australia with his parents and sisters, Rachel, Marian (Mary) and Hanchen (Ada) in 1874 aboard the ship Northumberland. Isidore married Cecelia Freedman in Melbourne on 19th June, 1889 and they had 12 children, 6 of whom survived childhood. The children were Alberta, Vera, Olga, Ivan, Louis, Cecil, Julius, Nina, Zara, Leon, Isidore and Audrey. At various times Isidore had Tobaconnist and Fancy Good businesses in Geelong and Melbourne. Some of the addresses were: Hopetoun Chambers, 135-139 Ryrie Street, Geelong; Cnr. Moorabool and Malop Streets, Geelong; 69 Moorabool Street, Geelong; 98a and 159 Moorabool Street, Geelong; 108 Queen Street, Melbourne; 360 Bourke Street, Melbourne and T & G Buildings, 145 Collins Street, Melbourne. Isidore is buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery in the Jewish Section.
