Uncle Josef was a very nice and pleasant man, and I thought very highly of him. He was a lot of fun to talk with, and he was very patient with me as a small child. He had an accent that my mother found charming. I was told he spoke several languages. I was told that his family were merchants and he had come to the University of Chicago to attend school. He and Helen Dennis met at the University. They had planned to return to Czechoslovakia following graduation, but Nazi insanity prevented that.
