Ronald Criss Allison was married twice and a resident of the State of Texas. He had lived in Irving, Dripping Springs, and Austin, Texas, as well as in Norman Oklahoma.
Ronald Allison was married first to Mary Melinda (Ballard) Allison (1958 - 2013) on August 14th, 1994 and they had a son, Reese Colton Allison. Melinda Ballard was a businesswoman and activist for insurance policy holders who in 1999, five years after the couple was married, sued her insurer over mold damage in their mansion in Dripping Springs Texas.
Their son Reese, who was three years old at the time of his exposure, developed a respiratory condition in March of 1999, and Ronald shortly afterwards began to show signs of Alzheimer's disease. On April 1st, while Melinda was flying on Southwest Airlines, she became violently ill and began coughing up blood. Thanks to the questions of an air-quality expert named Bill Holder, who was sitting next to her on the flight, she began to suspect that her house was the culprit of the family's unexplained and sudden illnesses.
Ronald and Melinda's lawsuit was settled in 2001 against Farmers Insurance with an award of $32 million. It was later reduced and settled for a confidential sum of money. Circa 2004, Melinda founded the Policyholders of America, to help homeowners battle insurance companies.

Unfortunately, due to the stress of the situation Ronald and Melinda divorced on December 4, 2003. He then married Michele L. Harle on May 28, 2010, to whom he was married when he died.

The article appeared in the New York Times and carries the date of February 20, 2013, although it seems to have been written much earlier. But the interview with Ronald Allison that appears near the end of the article is interesting, as also upsetting, since his mental status seems to have been greatly diminished.
