Aaron O Vickery 1921 - 1975

Aaron O Vickery was born on November 20, 1921 in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas United States to Mercedes Sierra (Molinar) and Kirbysmith Vickery, and had a brother Orran Vickery. He married Mary Ellen Vickery in December 1942 in El Paso, El Paso County and they later divorced. He had children Elaine A. Vickery, Kirby L. Vickery, and Gregg A. Vickery. Aaron Vickery died at age 53 years old on August 10, 1975 in El Paso, El Paso County, and was buried at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery Section I Site 3327 P.o. Box 6342 - 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, in El Paso.

  • Introduction

    Aaron O Vickery was born on February 16, 1920 in El Paso, Texas, USA to parents Kirbysmith Vickery and Mercedes Serra. He married Mary Ellen Easter (1921-2019) right after high school on December 20, 1941 in Phoenix, Arizona. They had three children, Elaine A., Kirby L., and Gregg A. He later married Barbara Brown, but she died a few months after their marriage in March of 1975. Barbara was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas and had been a teacher in El Paso Public Schools. Aaron was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Coast Guard as a radioman. After the war he initially worked for the Civil Air Association in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas as an Air Traffic Controller. In the Fifties he worked in ICAO (IKO) The International Civil Aviation Organization, Headquartered in Montreal, Canada. This took him and his family to Damascus, Syria and Jakarta, Indonesia. He applied to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Research and Engineering as the supervisor of Department D-16. One of his projects was the conversion of the old CAA to the Federal Aeronautics Administration (FAA). In the seventies he moved his family to Radium Springs, New Mexico and opened a small store and gas station. He divorced in the seventies and moved to El Paso to hold a teaching position with a Real Estate firm. Then he retired. Aaron was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1975 and was afforded the honor of having been buried in Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.

Aaron and Barbara did not have any children. They were married for less than a year. Her children are from a previous marriage. I am Kirby L. Vickery. I am Aaron's oldest son.

I. Aaron's father was Kirbysmith Vickery. His mother was Mercedes Sierra Molinar. Kirby smith was born in Illinois and was a Brake man for the B&O railroad. Mercedes was born on the Rock of Gibraltar. 2. Aaron's first wife was the former Mary Ellen Easter. She was the daughter of Ada and James N. Easter and grew up on North Kansas St. In El Paso.. 3. Aaron is the father of three children. Elaine born in 1943. Kirby born in 1946 and Gregg born in 1955. His Second wife was Barbara and they were married only for a short while until she died.
