He was born on January 5, 1982 and he had siblings including Jeffrey Allen Thomas Jr (born 1980) and Courtney Elizabeth Thomas (born 1990). Tragically, during a patrol near the Pakistan border, his unit engaged Taliban guerillas. As one of six snipers facing enemy fire in the early hours of "Operation Mountain Viper," Adam fought valiantly. Despite the relentless firefight that lasted over an hour, he sustained injuries that ultimately led to his passing. Adam last talked to his mother and sister by phone on the Wednesday before he was killed. He told them they were about to eat a good meal, were watching movies and not doing much.
