Agnes Louisa Christine (Mihan) of Melbourne Australia was born in 1862 in Melbourne, VIC to Frederick August Mihan and Paulina Florentine Scholtz Mihan. She had siblings Frederick William Miehen, Louisa (Mihan) Gerlach, Charles Albert Mihan, Mina Hermina Mihan, William Frederick Mihan, and Emil Rudolph Mihan. Agnes Christine Mihan married Andrew Frederick Hansen, and died at age 68 years old in 1930 in Bayswater, City of Knox County.

In 1862, in the year that Agnes Christine Mihan was born, British citizen Anna Leonowens, a widow, accepted a job in Siam (now Thailand) to teach the children and wives of the King of Siam - he had 39 wives and concubines and 82 children. Taking her son with her and sending her daughter to England for schooling, she taught in Siam for 6 years - until the King died.
