    Amelia F. Petersen, 69, passed away Friday, December 4, 1942, at her home in Monrovia, California. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, at the W. B. Temple Chapel, with Rev. Haven N. Davis, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery, Monrovia, California. Emilie Friederike Hansen was born March 24, 1873, in Strukkamp, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Christian and Mathilda (Hinrichsen) Hansen. She came to the United States in 1881 with her parents to a farm in Clinton County, Iowa. In 1884, her family moved to a farm in Sherman County, Nebraska, near Loup City, however she remained in Clinton County. She married Otto Ferdinand Petersen on August 27, 1891, in Clinton County. Together they moved to Sherman County, Nebraska and farmed for about a year, before they quit farming and moved into Loup City, where they owned a grocery business until 1921. With her failing health, the couple decided to move to Monrovia, California to be near her family. She used the name Amelia during her lifetime. Surviving are her husband, Otto; three sons, Christian Petersen of Monrovia and Clarence (Blanche) Petersen and Otto (Inga) Petersen Jr., both of Loup City, NE; one grandchild, Judith Lou Petersen; one sister, Louise Sloggy of Long Beach, CA; and one brother, Nickalous (Pauline) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Gertrude Petersen and Anna Baird, one brother, Peter Hansen and two brothers-in-law, John Solms and John Sloggy. One sister, Anna Hansen and one brother, Christian Hansen, died in Germany. Sherman County Times, Dec 16, 1942
