Amy Whitby died at age 86 years old on August 21, 1965 at Epworth Hospital, in Richmond, Yarra City County, and was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, 600 Princes Hwy, in Springvale, Greater Dandenong City County.

Edgar Hoover, at the age of 29, was appointed the sixth director of the Bureau of Investigation by Calvin Coolidge (which later became the Federal Bureau of Investigation).
