In 1894, in the year that Arthur Lindenbaum was born, on March 12th, for the first time, Coca-Cola was sold in individual bottles as a drink for consumer consumption. Previously, it was sold as a syrup for upset stomachs - over the counter.

In 1907, he was just 13 years old when the showman Florenz Ziegfeld introduced his Ziegfeld Follies. Ziegfeld was inspired by the Folies Bergère of Paris and the show was a step up from the then current vaudeville shows. The top entertainers of the time played in the Follies but the stars were the Ziegfeld girls - beautiful chorus girls in elaborate costumes. For almost a quarter of a century, the Ziegfeld follies were the toast of Broadway.

In 1910, Arthur was 16 years old when Angel Island, which is in San Francisco Bay, became the immigration center for Asians entering U.S. It was often referred to as "The Ellis Island of the West". Due to restrictive laws against Chinese immigration, many immigrants spent years on the island.

In 1945, at the age of 51 years old, Arthur was alive when on May 7th, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Jewell Ridge Coal Corp. v. United Mine Workers of America. The Court ruled that the underground travel time of coal miners was compensable work time under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

In 1964, in the year of Arthur Lindenbaum's passing, on June 11th, activist Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment in South Africa for conspiring to overthrow the state (because of his numerous anti-apartheid activities). He served 27 years in prison.
