Tobacco production on the B.F. Howell farm. Most of the family is involved: Mr Howell, his 8 and 10-year old boys who "tie up waste," his 12-year old boy, and his 14-year old girl (not in photo) who are regular strippers.
The children didn't attend school regularly as they were needed at the farm. (The photo was taken during school hours.)
