She later married Jack L Codding in 1955 in Manatee, Florida, USA. Barbara was mother to four daughters, Patricia R., Karen Lystein, Kathleen Metcalf, and Constant Pruitt as well as two sons, James M. and Robert L.

She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She is survived by her husband, Jack L.; her mother, Adele L. Smith of Gaithersburg, Md.; four daughters, Patricia R. of Bradenton, Karen Lystein of Sarasota, Kathleen Metcalf of Tampa and Constant Pruitt of Valrico; two sons, James M. and Robert L., both of Fort Myers; a sister, Winifred Welsh of Bethesda, Md.; and seven grandchildren. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter.
