He grew up in a large family with siblings George Adams (1885-1970), Matt Adams (1887-1890), John Jack Adams (1890-1978), Peter F Adams (1890-1966), Henry Adams (1894-1979), Katherin 'Kay' Adams (1895-1896), Rose Adams (1897-1900), Amanda Adams (1901-1965), Martha Adams (1905-1905), Al Adams (1907-1984), Ellen Adams (1908-), and Catherina Adams (1918-). His father Michael was born on April 12, 1859 in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois, USA and grew up in McHenry, McHenry, Illinois, United States. He was of German heritage as both of his parents were born there and immigrated to the states. Michael later resided in Adams, Mower, Minnesota, USA and Stacyville, Mitchell, Iowa, United States. On November 6, 1884 in Stacyville, Iowa he married Anna and they raised their children there while he worked as a farmer. Michael M. Adams passed away on September 29, 1931 in Stacyville, Mitchell, Iowa, USA. His mother Anna Faas was born on April 11, 1862 in Slinger, Washington, WI, USA and grew up in Hartford, Washington, Wisconsin, United States. She later moved to Stacyville, Mitchell, Iowa, USA where she married Michael in November 6, 1884. She later lived in Liberty, Mitchell, Iowa and raised her family. Anna passed away on September 5, 1930 in Stacyville, Mitchell, Iowa, USA.
