She married Ralph Willard Stevens on June 20, 1933 in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland, and they were married until Bernice's death on November 21, 1989. Bernice Stevens was buried in Walla Walla, Walla Walla County.

Her maternal great-grandfather (Thomas Goodletson/Tommes Gundleksen) was also born in Norway.
