My Mom
She always told me and my brother that she loved us so much. My mom met my dad in Minneapolis. He had come from Freeborn/Albert Lea, MN, and served in the Marine Corp. and NAVY just before they met. She was staying with a seamstress in Minneapolis when she first moved to thw city. They got married in Minneapolis. She wore a spaghetti strap sun dress, just below the knee and a small bridal cap. As soon as they married my dad got a job for the Bell Telephone System in Duluth, MN
They found a little white cottage out in a rural wooded neighborhood and had me at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. She was artistic, meticulous housekeeper, fun and funny! She enjoyed spending time with us and her sister, Betty Lou and our cousins in Brooklyn Park, MN. Her only sister was older than she and her name was, Betty Lou Anderson Ridout, my closest aunt) a brother, David Anderson who lived in Anoka with his wife Kathy and their six children, and a younger brother named Ronny Anderson who moved to California. She was born in Starbuck, MN, and grew up in Little Falls, MN. She was an excellent roller skater, tumbler and flag twirler. She was an amazing cook and baker for our family. She used to make candles, fuzzy smiley face pillows and the like for gifts. Once she made scenes feom the Cinderella story out of felt for my bedroom and framed them in fancy gold frames. We used to watxh Movie of The Week every Tuesday night. She had an electric Kay guitar which she sometimes played with my dad Ed, as he plucked the banjo. She had visitef Hawaii, Seattle Worlds Fair in 1962, Tampa, FL and spent some cabin time on Lake Mille Lacs and Rice Lake. She had me, Tonya on 04/19/1960 my brother Robin who was born in July of 1963 and died a month later of SIDS. I found him in his crib when I had just turned 4. Thankfully she had my brother, Robert Edwin Holleschau, on 08/04/1964. She would be happy to know he and I are very close even though we live 1100 miles apart. He in Minnesota and me in Winston, GA. She was a Bluebird leader and made the best snacks. She enjoyed going dancing and loved music. She love The Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle, Janice Joplin, Neil Diamond, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many country and pop songs. She always made herself up and looked nice when she went out. Ahe worked as a customer service manager for Mr. Print for several years and its subsidiary, Mr. Office for a couple. She was friendly to most everybody and had lots of friends and acquaintances. She was a stay at home mom and wife until I was about 13. Then she worked at the print shop. Me and my brother eventually worked with her there and had a fun time together. She liked unusual things and occurences, like angels, UFOs amd supernatural phenomenon. Her childhood was somewhat strained due to her mother, and dad but she and her siblings made the best of it. I miss her so much. She also had some amazing flowers carrots and tomatoes. She wasnt religious but I prayed with her for salvation about a month before she passed. We had taken her the October before she passed, 2009 to a condo in Florida with our kids. She was very ill because she had broken a hip and never recovered. She died of pneumonia although my brother Robert tried to being her back to life before the paramedics arrived. We were blessed to have you mom! I love you!
