Buel Adams of Dalton, Berkshire County, MA was born on June 11, 1908. He married Louise Abare Adams, and they had children Katherine Abare Albright, Joan Adams Duffy, Roscoe Abare, Marguerite Abare Burns, Doris Abare Richards, and Raymond Abare. He would also marry Louise Abare Adams. Buel Adams died at age 75 years old in August 1983.

In 1908, in the year that Buel Adams was born, Henry Ford developed the first Model T automobile, often called the Tin Lizzy or flivver. Produced from 1908 through 1927, it first sold for $850 - which made it affordable for every middle class family. Previously, cars were the province of the upper class and the introduction of the Model T and its availability changed U.S. culture. Within days of its release, over 15,000 cars had been ordered.

In 1912, at the age of only 4 years old, Buel was alive when the Girl Scouts of the USA was started by Juliette Gordon Low with the help of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts in Great Britain. She said after a meeting with Baden-Powell, "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!" And she did.
