He jumped ship
Fought in World War I, buried in Soldier's Circle at Lakeview Cemetery in Jamestown NY. According to his daughter Linnea and the stories she told her grand daughter, Gina, Carl J Anderson emigrated as a young orphan boy, who at about age 10 "jumped ship" from Sweden to the USA and traveled to the US as a stowaway. (Which today might be considered arriving as an Unaccompanied Minor from Sweden.) This would place his arrival to the US around 1902. According to his grave stone in Soldier's Circle at Lakeview Cemetery, in Jamestown, NY, he served as a US Solider in WW I. Carl J Anderson married Augusta Marie Johansen, and they had five children.
