Pam Marks:
My father described himself as an "agnostic" (he told me that he would have said atheist but if he didn't have proof one way or another, and he wouldn't take a definitive stand). He only set foot in a church for weddings or when his daughters sang in the choir. He also attended the funeral of his "Big Aunt Norma."
Pam's note: several years before he passed away, my father and I were discussing death. He told me he was an atheist and I asked him why. He mentioned his years as a philosophy major, studying all the different religions and belief systems. His belief was that upon his death, he would return to the earth and become part of the universe, and he said he was happy with that.
I spread some of his ashes in Sacred Wind, KY where his maternal grandparents had lived, and we had traveled there in 1998. He was thrilled to be there.
I know that would have made him quite happy!
Kathy Pinna:
Donald Madden was an actor, known for 1776 (1972), The United States Steel Hour (1953) and Play of the Week (1959). He died on January 22, 1983 in Central Islip, Suffolk, New York at the age of 49.
He was an acclaimed stage actor whose major credits include the title role in Hamlet, setting a record of 113 consecutive performances; Sergius in Arms and The Man; and several seasons with the Joseph Papp Shakespeare Festival.
Donald was nominated for Broadway's 1967 Tony Award as Best Actor (Dramatic) for Peter Shaffer's "Black Comedy".
"1776" (1972) was the only theatrically released film he made: He was one of the few actors in the film version of "1776" who did not portray his role on Broadway. Also, his solo song in "1776" was cut from the theatrical version and was not restored until the DVD release in 1992 and his solo song was not included on the soundtrack album.
Donald played the same character in two versions of "U.S. Steel Hour" "The Old Lady Shows Her Medals" in 1956 and 1963.

My father, a strong,stubborn man who was haunted by the horrors of WWII and demons of his past. Growing up in Chicago and having his mom die of cancer at a very young age, not being close to his siblings . He never talked much about his family,I know very little of my heritage. My grandpa was Stanley,grandma was Helen. I have aunts. Lillian,Berniece and an uncle I have a letter to my mom from Lillian
I know he was married before he met my mom and had 2 children, David and Christine he missed them but the pain of not having contact with them was too much for him to talk about.He kept so much inside even my mom did not know, he became all about alcohol and smoking .he worked very hard as a crane operator but shared little to no information about his past. He was a lonely man but bigger than life to me.
Richard Cobb:
Brother - Joe was my brother who took his life in December 1972. I still greatly miss him to this day. He was a Doctor of Physiology for the University of Oregon where he got his PHD. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1956. He went through very difficult times as he went to psychiatrists for many years. I believe he would be alive today if he had access to the medications now available for his bi-polar personality. He was 10 years older than me, but we definitely had a strong connection. I love and miss him greatly.
Colleen Stanley:
Bob was my dad. I only had a handful of years with him toward the end, but it was enough to know that he loved my younger brother and me. Hopefully he knew that we loved him, too. I know from all of the stories that have been told to me over the years that he was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers who also enjoyed watching college basketball, participating in our church’s bowling league, and making what would today be called “dad” jokes. His love for family and friends was also boundless. Whether it was a sibling, in-law, someone for church, etc., he was the first one who would come up with a plan to meet any needs that arose - anything from donating cases of baby food to our pastor after an accident to sneaking full-sized replacement appliances into the homes of both my mother’s sister and his own. My goal is to carry on the best parts of my father’s legacy and honor his memory with my life.

Robin Gullo - Johnny was my brother.
Joey and Johnny were both die hard Celtic fans they had season tickets.
I remember when my sister Kim and I went to Boston to visit them they gave us tickets to a Celtics game. We both said we didn’t know how we would get there?? They told us to take the train to orange line and just follow the people ? We looked at each other in confusion , but was very clear when we got off the T. There was a sea of green!!!
Thank you my brothers for making me a die hard Celtic fan.

I have an old studio photograph of Emery Rice DANIELS which was taken at the Swartz studio in Stuart, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Emery likely in his 60's at the time. He is also identified as "LaVelle's Great Grandfather". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Emery and his family:
Emery Rice DANIELS was b. 13 Oct 1822 in Windsor, MA to parents Eliphalet DANIELS (1797-1861) and Amanda RICE (1800-1839) who were married 15 Sept 1821 in Conway, MA. Emery was one of 7 children born to this couple including Emery Rice; William Cullen; Amanda R.; Amond; Charles Franklin; and Eliphalet DANIELS Jr., all born between 1822 and 1832. Emery’s father was married previously and had one additional son, Aviery DANIELS (b. 1819).
Emery married twice, first to Ellen WEAR (1825-1852) on 15 Jun 1848 in Peoria, IL and they had two children including Amanda Ellen DANIELS SHERMAN (1849-1939) and Laura C. DANIELS MURRAY (1852-1938). His second marriage was to Phebe or Pheobe S. STILLMAN (1829-1913) on 3 Mar 1853 in Peoria, IL and they had 8 children including Charles Franklin; Orlando Sherman; Sylvester Joseph; Baby Boy; Adoniram Judson; Leroy Emery; Dexter; and Lovica “Lollie” DANIELS, all born between 1854 and 1868.
Emery died 14 Apr 1902 in Azusa, CA and is buried in the Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendora, CA.

I have an old studio photograph of Myrtle CASTNER which was taken at the A. B. de GROAT Studio in Bath, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Myrtle likely in her 20's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Myrtle and her family:
Mary Myrtle FLEET was b. 9 May 1889 in Schuyler County, NY to parents Daniel Edgar FLEET (b. 1846) and Lucinda GOLTRY or GAULTRY or GOLTRA (b. 1852). Myrtle was one of 8 children born to this couple including Delphene or Dellaphene; Vincent Conklin; Julia E.; Cora Mae; Jesse Paul; John W.; Emerson Bisale; and Mary Myrtle FLEET, all born between 1872 and 1889. Myrtle married Clarence Alvin CASTNER (1894-1964) on 17 Jun 1914 in Orange, NY and they had a daughter, Clara Lucille CASTNER KELLY(1918-1993).
Myrtle died 22 Aug 1967 in New York and is buried in the Rural Cemetery in Hornell, NY.
