Catherine McSweeney (McSweeney) Collins of The Leigh Australia was born in 1859 in The Leigh to Michael Mcsweeney and Margaret (Egan) McSweeney. She had siblings Sarah Elizabeth Mcsweeney, Rosannah Maud Mcsweeney, William McSweeney, Daniel Joseph McSweeney, John Robert McSweeney, Agnes (McSweeney) Upton, Mary (McSweeney) Derbyshire, Margaret (McSweeney) Playle, and Michael McSweeney Jr.. She married Denis Thomas Collins, and had a child John Collins. Catherine Collins died at age 61 years old on November 2, 1921.

On the 2nd November, Catherine, dearly loved wife of Denis Collins, and beloved eldest daughter of the late Michael and Margaret McSweeney, of North Melbourne, and Footscray; beloved sister of William, of North Melbourne; Michael ( deceased ), Margaret ( Mrs. Playle), Essendon; Daniel, Elsternwick; Mary ( Mrs. Derbyshire, deceased), Agnes ( Mrs. Upton, deceased ). Maud ( Mrs. Dillon, N.S.W.), Robert ( A.I.F., Tasmania) Rest in peace. COLLINS. - On the 2nd November, Catherine, the dearly beloved wife of Denis Collins, and beloved mother of John, after a long and painful illness, borne with Christian fortitude, aged 61 years.
