Catherine Yates Leake was born on February 13, 1831 in Albany, Albany County, New York United States to John W. Leake and Julia Johnson, and had siblings Frederic Leake, John Shipman Leake, Simeon Johnson Leake, Horace W. Leake, and Lucretia Leake. Catherine Leake died at age 85 years old on May 7, 1916 in Delmar, and was buried in May 1916 at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.

    Catherine was well remembered and held in high esteem and respect by her grandniece, Dorothy Bulkeley Leake. She wed on Apr.28,1853 in Albany, N.Y. tp John Baylis Sturdevant, b. Dec.17,1821 in Taunton, Mass. & d. Apr.20,1889 in Albany, N.Y. He is buried at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands, N.Y. They had 5 children and many other descendants over the years. Her relation to this writer is great great grandaunt.
