Clara Bertha Wilhelmina (Brockmeier) Gehrke was born on May 14, 1892 in near Herington, Dickinson County, KS to William Brockmeier and Karoline Bertha (Brumworth) Brockmeier. She married Otto Freidrich Herman Gehrke on June 25, 1916 in Shady Brook, Dickinson County, KS, and they were married until Clara's death on June 11, 1968. She had children Esther Bertha (Gehrke) Pine, Roy Edward Gehrke, Otto Herman Gehrke Jr, Milton Clarence Gehrke, Clarence Lavern Gehrke, and Richard Robert Gehrke. Clara Gehrke was buried on June 14, 1968 at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington.
