She married Harley L Pine on January 27, 1940 in Herington, Dickinson County, KS, and had children Donald Lee Gehrke, Glenda Rae Pine, Theda Mae Pine, and Sandra Lynn Pine. Esther Pine died at age 39 years old on November 18, 1957 in Emporia, Lyon County, KS, and was buried on November 21, 1957 at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington, Dickinson County.

    The Herington Advertiser-Times MRS HARLEY PINE DIED LAST MONDAY Friends will be shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Harley Pine, 33, the mother of four young children who died in an Emporia hospital last Monday. Graveside services were held at Sunset Hill cemetery here last Thursday afternoon. Esther Gehrke Pine, the daughter of Otto F. and Clara Gehrke, was born Jan. 1, 1918 and died Nov. 18, 1957 at St. Mary's hospital in Emporia where she had been a patient for several months. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church having been baptized and confirmed in this faith. She attended St. Paul's parochial school and Herington high school. On Jan. 27, 1940 she was married to Harley Pine and moved to Emporia in 1947 where the family has since made their home. Mrs. Pine is survived by her husband, a son Donald Lee; three daughters: Theda Mae, Glenda Rae and Sandra Lynn; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gehrke; four brothers, Junior and Richard of Herington; Milton and Clarence of Ulysses, Kansas. One brother preceded her in death. She was a member of the Rosean Social Circle and he RFD Mixers Farm Bureau Unit of Emporia and took an active part in their activities until her recent illness. Memorial services were held Thursday, Nov 21 at 10 a.m. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel in Emporia with Rev. Sherman E. Frederick, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church officiating. He read from the gospel of Matthew's 23 Psalm and the Lord's Prayer. Mr. Trevor Lewis sang When I Come to the Garden and At the End of a Perfect Day. Pallbearers were: Dale Sheel, Clarence Whitaker, Alvin Whitaker, J.C. Fehr, Verland Fehr and Don Boyce. Interment was in Sunset Hill cemetery after a short graveside service.
